Abstract
In this research, triethylammonium ionic liquid grafted on magnetic biochar dots (magnetic BCDs/ILs) was developed and investigated as a novel and effective catalyst for the preparation of various xanthene derivatives through the multicomponent reaction of dimedone, β-naphthol, and aromatic aldehydes. To determine the structure and characteristics of the prepared catalyst, FT-IR, XRD, SEM, and TEM spectroscopic methods were employed. Spectroscopic results data confirmed the successful synthesis of the desired catalyst. Furthermore, the synthesized xanthene derivatives were identified using different spectroscopic methods such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The spectroscopic data well agreed with the structure of the corresponding compounds. The experiments showed that the presented method could be used as a suitable method for the synthesis of various xanthene derivatives due to the short reaction time, absence of organic solvents, high yield, of products in the mild reaction conditions, and easy separation of the products.
