In this study, a hydrophilic and transparent coating based on acrylic resin, containing titanium dioxide doped with various concentrations of vanadium, was prepared and characterized. Despite the advantages of titanium dioxide in self-cleaning coatings, factors such as its wide band gap limit its efficiency. In this work, doping titanium dioxide with 7 wt% vanadium (7%V-TiO₂) reduced its band gap from 3.0 to 2.7 eV, thereby increasing its sensitivity to visible light. The acrylic resin coating containing the doped TiO₂ nanoparticles was applied to glass substrates using the dip-coating method. The prepared samples were investigated using various characterization techniques, and the photocatalytic performance of the coating was evaluated through the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under visible light irradiation. According to the results, the presence of acrylic resin not only facilitates the uniform distribution of V-TiO₂ particles on the glass substrate but also enhances the hydrophilicity of the coating. The hydrophilic nature of the coating plays a significant role in improving its self-cleaning property by promoting the formation of a thin water film. Moreover, the applied coatings exhibited good mechanical stability, confirming their potential for practical applications in various fields.
